Lawson's Second Grade Class Awards Ceremony

This video is really quiet...so crank your speakers!
Second Grade has been another amazing journey for Lawson.  Lawson is super bright and hasn't seemed to struggle in school until the beginning of this year.  Nothing major...but we noticed the first six weeks that she had 2 "B"s.  After several conversations with her teacher, we decided that her hearing loss might finally have begun to show it's ugly head.  Boo.  Good news though is we already had the solution sitting on a shelf in our house....the hearing aids.  So, Lawson began wearing them to school.  I really thought it might be a big challenge to get her to wear them.  Anytime we had encourage her to wear them when we first received them always ended up in her complaining that they "itched" her.  (which is just a getting-used to them thing.)  But, she wore them to school the first day and never skipped a beat.  What a HUGE blessing!  She was always quick to take them off after school..which was fine.  She doesn't seem to need them "socially".  But, her grades shot right back up to A's for the rest of the school year.
Lawson, Dad and I are SO proud of you.  I'm sorry that you need those silly things...but I'm glad that it is a pretty simple and painless solution.  I'm so thankful that God provided Doctors to diagnose your hearing loss and put us in tough with a program that provided them at NO COST to us.  And that your struggle in the classroom was so quickly remedied.
Today, Lawson received the "Friendship" Award from her teacher and the "Funniest" Award from her classmates! What a fabulous awards to receive!
May you always be a good friend who makes others laugh!

We love you, Lawson!

Memorial Day Weekend

Yea! For a fun holiday weekend spent with family!
Mimi and Doo-Dad came up to spend the weekend with us and we were lucky enough to be able to meet up with Steph and Eddie and crew at a local water park.  It was a very fun way to spend a Memorial Saturday!

Could Lawson BE any happier to be with her little cousins?!

A little Ring-Around-the-Rosie bonding moment with Hudson and Brooklyn!

Shark Attatch!  Chandler wasn't sure what to think about her crazy cousin, Hudson!  She needs a brother.....MAYBE!  We should find out soon!

Pappa's Surgery

We got some unexpected new this week that Pappa was going to have triple bypass heart surgery.  So, we ran up to Little Rock to be with him on his big day.  Surgery was yesterday and he has already been moved out of ICU into a regular room!  He even walked us to the elevator before we left town.  He is doing amazing!  Thank you, God, for answered prayers!

Our Butterfly Project

Lawson and Husdon both learned about the butterfly life cycle in the past few weeks at school.  I remembered actually purchasing a kit where you watch caterpillars change into butterflys.  I asked the kids if they had done this project in their classes.  They said no....so I was off to the computer to order the kit.  I knew they would love it!  It is pretty amazing...even to me!  They checked the mailbox every day!  They couldn't WAIT for it to arrive!
Here are some pics from beginning to end!  It took about 3 weeks. One week as caterpillars and one week in their chrysalis and one week as butterflys before they die.  Short...but interesting...life!

 Our first butterfly!
Lawson adding more sugar water (their food) onto their flower.
And of course they were both a bit sad to release them.  (Especially Lawson.)

This project reminds me of HOW big my God is!  Thinking of all the creatures he made...and all the intricate details!  WOW!

Awards! Awards!

End of school always brings awards!
And Lawson and Hud were in the big middle of them!
Lawson participated in reading Bingo with the library at her school this year.  She had to read 120 books on various assigned subjects to qualify for this award. The winners got treated to a special magic show and got to miss class for an hour!
(Note: She signed in Cursive. She is
SO proud to be able to write in cursive!  So cute! So old!)

Lawson and Hudson both participated in running club after school at Eagle Ridge. They met on Wed afternoons for about 5 weeks in the fall and then 5 weeks in the spring.  Lawson ran 20 miles this year and Hudson ran about 2!  (Hudson decided after about the 3rd week he would rather play on the school playground than run!)

Mother's Day!

My sweet kiddos showered me with some sweet treats today!
They are at this fun age where Robbie takes them to the Dollar Store and lets them shop for me.  It's a great idea....because he can let them shop freely for me and not break the bank!  It is SO cute to see what they picked for me...and how much thought they put into it!  They know me well!
Lawson got me Cherry Twizzlers, a candle, room fragrance spray and decorative glass rocks.
Hudson got me...Reeces Peanut Butter Cups, a candle, and  room frangrance spray.

The each picked me out two balloons.
They may drive me crazy sometimes...but they are keepers.  And I am honored to be their mom!  God, please give me patience and wisdom to live my life in a way that will lead them to love you...the best life!
