Second Grade has been another amazing journey for Lawson. Lawson is super bright and hasn't seemed to struggle in school until the beginning of this year. Nothing major...but we noticed the first six weeks that she had 2 "B"s. After several conversations with her teacher, we decided that her hearing loss might finally have begun to show it's ugly head. Boo. Good news though is we already had the solution sitting on a shelf in our house....the hearing aids. So, Lawson began wearing them to school. I really thought it might be a big challenge to get her to wear them. Anytime we had encourage her to wear them when we first received them always ended up in her complaining that they "itched" her. (which is just a getting-used to them thing.) But, she wore them to school the first day and never skipped a beat. What a HUGE blessing! She was always quick to take them off after school..which was fine. She doesn't seem to need them "socially". But, her grades shot right back up to A's for the rest of the school year.
Lawson, Dad and I are SO proud of you. I'm sorry that you need those silly things...but I'm glad that it is a pretty simple and painless solution. I'm so thankful that God provided Doctors to diagnose your hearing loss and put us in tough with a program that provided them at NO COST to us. And that your struggle in the classroom was so quickly remedied.

Today, Lawson received the "Friendship" Award from her teacher and the "Funniest" Award from her classmates! What a fabulous awards to receive!
