Happy Cow Appreciation Day!

Although we LOVE Chick-fil-A, we decided to take a hiatus from making it our every Tuesday night stop last fall. I was SO glad when my mom reminded me that today was Cow Appreciation Day! Why? Because if you will humiliate yourself and dress up like a cow, they will give you FREE dinner. (What a generous company to hand out free Chick-fil-A Sandwhich value meals....we would have spent close to $20 on this dinner. And they do this all day long....nationwide!)
So your pride or free food (free yummy food). Free food always wins! I had forgotten how much I LOVE Chick-fil-A! Lawson always gets 100% into any kind of special day or party!
She even ate her entire meal wearing this taped-on nose!
The kids were most impressed that they got "big" drinks....as opposed to kid-sized drinks. They kept asking "why did they give us big cups?" And if you know my kids, you know they get their beverage guzzling gifting from the Gibbs side of the family....so the big cup was a big deal!
THIS....
was our dinner entertainment!
It was laugh-out-loud funny.
There are four teenagers underneath this sheet with stapled-on black paper plates.
They got under there, and then began to discuss out loud how they were going to make this cow walk to the counter. They then started to "moo". Then they did a pretty good job of walking up to the counter. We were expecting them to order....and the wait staff was just kinda standing there laughing at them waiting for them to speak. But then the "cow" just walked out the front door and down the sidewalk. Then the teenagers came out from under the sheet, high fived each other, got in their car and left. They did all that and then never ordered their free food! Funny!

Hudson Funnies

Today I asked Hudson who made him so cute.
He said "God did."
I said "I think you are right. When God made you, he used all the best pieces....the best cheeks and eyes and hair and arms...."
He interrupted ".....not nece-celery (necessarily)....he gave me the arm with this mark on it. (referring to a small birth mark on his arm).
After I cracked up laughing....I replied "no, that's what makes that arm special!"
Some other funny words Hudson says right now....
...Brook (rhymes with spook) for things that are broken. He says they are "brook"!
...And in sports he says you have players, referrees and "watchers" (the crowd).

Little Ashley & Little Landry

Say cheese!
Today I caught the kiddos pretending to be my brother, Landry, and sister-in-law, Ashley. They were doing a photo session with their "kids"....Reese, Cannon, Griffin and Palmer. (Also, they must have been babysitting my sister Steph's little girl, Brooklyn, too. Because they had a Brooklyn babydoll in the photo shoot too. And a random baby named Sarah.)
This is the kind of play that just goes on for hours....it is SO cute...but it has to be THEIR idea. I would have them play this way all the time...it thoroughly entertains me. It's SO sweet!
And it always suprises me that they don't seem to mind an audience!

Happy 4th of July!

We spent the weekend celebrating our country's independence with all things American!
I'm so grateful to all the men and women who have served our country.
How can you say thanks enough for your freedom?
We ran in the grocery store on Friday to pick up a few things, and Lawson spotted these flowers. She said we HAD to have them for our table for the 4th of July. How coud I say no to that?!
When we got them home, we discovered that they have lighted fiber optic feature.
Check out what they look like in the dark!
The kids had fun making red, white and blue cupcakes!
Lawson and I have painted our toenails like this on 4th of July for the past 3 years! Fun tradition!
We took the kids to see Toy Story 3. This was pretty much the first time the kids have been to see a movie at the theatre. I took Lawson when she was 2 and Hudson was a baby...but they were MUCH too young, and we never saw the end of a movie!
But they have gotten into Toy Story 1 & 2, and we felt they were old enough to enjoy going to see a movie at the theatre. And we were right! They sat GLUED to it! And Rob and I really enjoyed it too! It's such a cute and funny movie!
And we took in the Arlington Fourth of July parade. We went last year and really enjoyed it. So I think it has become a new tradition for our family.
We saw...fire trucks...
...and floats...
...and Army trucks....
....and marching bands....
...and cool old cars...
...and the heroes of the day, our veterans....
...and then because we are in Texas.....we saw tractors....
and horses!
Hudson brought a whistle (???), and Lawson brought bubbles.

Then we hit Dickey's Bar-B-Q for supper.
And enjoyed some ice cream!
We had some time to kill after dinner and before the fireworks show, so the kids started entertaining themselves by taking pictures.
And we started getting a little silly! I guess the sugar from the ice cream was kicking in!

OK.....now we are beyond silly and moving on to scary!
Hudson did a great job taking this one!

We saw the fireworks in Southlake to end the day. And for the first time ever, my kids weren't scared of them!!! It was a great holiday weekend!

David Chicken - Take 3

We took the kids to their THIRD David Chicken show today!
You can't beat free entertainment!
Especially entertainment in a wonderfully air conditioned mall in the middle of summer in Texas!
My sitster, Steph, and Brooklyn met us their!
We had a fun playdate!
They gave all the kiddos these cute inflatable guitars!
I guess that's how they roll at the the ritzy Willow Bend Mall!
Lawson and Baby B
Hudson brought his own guitar to the show!
He is a serious David Chicken groupie!
Hudson asked David Chicken to autograph his little guitar. David Chicken looked surprised and a little honored by this request. After he signed it, he invited Hudson and Lawson up to take a picture on the stage with David and his chicken guitar.
We played on the mall playground for a bit and then ended the afternoon with yummy pretzels!

Momma Chicken.....Rappin!

Wanted to document the huge amount of love Rob and I have for our children!

We submit ourselves to rappin' Grandmas!

Acutally, I hope I'm hip enough to rap when I'm her age! Go Momma Chicken, Go!
