Happy 4th of July!

We spent the weekend celebrating our country's independence with all things American!
I'm so grateful to all the men and women who have served our country.
How can you say thanks enough for your freedom?
We ran in the grocery store on Friday to pick up a few things, and Lawson spotted these flowers. She said we HAD to have them for our table for the 4th of July. How coud I say no to that?!
When we got them home, we discovered that they have lighted fiber optic feature.
Check out what they look like in the dark!
The kids had fun making red, white and blue cupcakes!
Lawson and I have painted our toenails like this on 4th of July for the past 3 years! Fun tradition!
We took the kids to see Toy Story 3. This was pretty much the first time the kids have been to see a movie at the theatre. I took Lawson when she was 2 and Hudson was a baby...but they were MUCH too young, and we never saw the end of a movie!
But they have gotten into Toy Story 1 & 2, and we felt they were old enough to enjoy going to see a movie at the theatre. And we were right! They sat GLUED to it! And Rob and I really enjoyed it too! It's such a cute and funny movie!
And we took in the Arlington Fourth of July parade. We went last year and really enjoyed it. So I think it has become a new tradition for our family.
We saw...fire trucks...
...and floats...
...and Army trucks....
....and marching bands....
...and cool old cars...
...and the heroes of the day, our veterans....
...and then because we are in Texas.....we saw tractors....
and horses!
Hudson brought a whistle (???), and Lawson brought bubbles.

Then we hit Dickey's Bar-B-Q for supper.
And enjoyed some ice cream!
We had some time to kill after dinner and before the fireworks show, so the kids started entertaining themselves by taking pictures.
And we started getting a little silly! I guess the sugar from the ice cream was kicking in!

OK.....now we are beyond silly and moving on to scary!
Hudson did a great job taking this one!

We saw the fireworks in Southlake to end the day. And for the first time ever, my kids weren't scared of them!!! It was a great holiday weekend!
