Spring Break Trip to Branson, MO

With the kids out of school, we took off to Branson to spend a few days.  The kids had never been there before.  We arrived Tuesday afternoon and headed to Dixie Stampede for a dinner show.  This was a lot of fun!  The kids LOVED it!
The theme of the show is the story of the Civil War.  One half of the auditorium is representing the "South" and the other side the "North".  There are many competitions and races during the evening...with an award going to either the north or south.  The side with the most awards is the evenings winner.  We sat on the "South" side.  And we had front row seats for all the action!

The food was yummy and our hands were our silverware for the evening! Hudson wasn't so sure at first...but he got into it!

Hard to tell in the pic..but this is an Indian with a girl dressed up like a bird...performing a native dance.  She was suspended on a tether and spent a lot of the song twirling and soaring in the air.  Really pretty!

At the beginning of the evening our waiter asked Robbie and I if we would like to be in part of the show.  I knew the kids would think that was so cool...so I said sure.  However, the longer I sat and ate my dinner I started regretting my decision.  I just had a feeling in was going to end up in humiliation.  And I was right!  I stuck to it for the kids...but vowed I would win!  You have never seen a more competitive stick horse riding duo!

And it payed off!  Our team won!  We got medals and everything!  Which the kids quickly stripped us of once we returned to our seats.
Ostrich races...now that would have been more fun than riding a stick horse!  I had no idea people could ride birds!

The show closed with an American tribute sung by Dolly Parton.  The horses and riders were all wearing red, white and blue lights.  It was really pretty!

The next morning we were off to Silver Dollar City!  It was a sunny 40 degree day!  Not quite what we had in mind for Spring Break weather!

We decided to squeeze in as many rides as we could.  We were planning to come back the next day and knew it was supposed to snow.  We saved the shows and the Cavern to do on the snowy day.
We rode and rode and rode!

This was one of our favorite places!  Grandpa's mansion...full of illusions...like a tilted floor...furniture on the ceiling...crazy mirrors etc.  It would have been fun to do once!  Why did we return 5 additional times?!  Grandpa's house is WARM!!!
Funnel cake break!
And back to Grandpa's to warm up!

Make a basket...win a prize! The attendant asked Hudson if he needed to stand up on the counter.  He looked at her like...what?

The shot went up.....and it was good!

Hud is now the proud owner of a cool Razorback basketball!
And then Lawson tried her hand at darts!
And won herself a rainbow monkey!

The park was supposed to close at 6.  But, they made an announcement that they were going to stay open until 7.  However, there was hardly anyone there from 6-7.  It had gotten really cold.  But, we took advantage of the thin crowd and rode some more rides with NO lines.  The kids probably road about 10 rides that last hour.

We pretty much shut the place down!
Fun Day!  Memories made!
We came back the next day and hit the caverns.  This was a first for Lawson and Hudson.  They had no idea there could be such amazing things under the ground!

Loved the closed eyes in all the pics...it was really dark...so the flash was extra bright.  Lawson looked at all my pictures and commented, "Oh good grief! My eyes are closed in every pic!"

A bat!
Way to go Rob!  Got those eyes open!

We rode this swanky little train up and out of the cavern!
Apparently, it is never to cold for Dippin Dots!  Who knew?

It had started snowing so we decided to have Hot Chocolate and take in a magic show!  However, it was evening snowing through cracks in the roof in this theatre!
Hudson was selected to be the magicians helper.  He loved every minute on the stage!
We spent a lot of time at the condo playing games!  I always love to watch people sit around and play this one!

Friday, we went to see a movie at the IMAX.  It was on a 6 story screen...the largest screen in the Midwest I was told.
Then we went out to check out a new shopping center area called Branson Landing.  The have a water show that is synced with the music.  It doesn't show up well...but was really cool.  Even had flames that shot up out of those black cylinders.  You can see them in the next pic.
It kinda felt like we went to Colorado for Spring Break!  It was freezing!
We ended our trip with a fun dinner with one of my best friends who I haven't seen in like 2 or 3 years!  We used to live in Dallas together...and then both ended up moving different places.  She has a new 3 month old sweet baby boy that we finally got to meet too!  He is adorable!  And it was SO good to hug her neck and catch up a bit!

I think Levi wants some salad!
We had SO much fun this week! So, thankful for time with family!

Here are a few video clips from the week!
