May thru End of School Randoms

Hudson and his teacher on Crazy Hat day!  I had on like 6 hats!  Love it...he handled this project 100% by himself! (My kdis are getting super independant!)
I got to help with another retirement party for one of our Ast. Superintendents.  This is always fun...but a bit of a challenge because their is no budget to spend on decor.  This superintendent is building a log cabin for a retirement home so rustic was our theme. We asked around for burlap, chopped logs, mason jars, scrapbook paper, and lantens.  Then just used what we got!

I actually picked wild flowers and put them in mason jars and put them on table for centerpieces.  I made like 13 of these little arrangements.  (Yes, I was the crazy lady you saw on the side of the road picking tons of yellow wild flowers and even green grassy weeds for "filler").  I though they turned out looking pretty cute...for what they were with someone who knows nothing about floral arrangement!

Next up was science fair!
Hud tested locations at his school to find out which place is the "germiest".  La tested if chewing gum cleans your teeth and if so does one flavor clean better than another.

They announce the awards staring with Kinder working their way up to 5th Grade.  Hudson won first place again in his grade!  I was so shocked.  I was shocked when he won last year...and what are the odds of winning 1st again?!  Congrats, Hud!  Way to go!
Meanwhile Lawson was a ball of nerves!  Her brother had won AGAIN and she was really wanting a win!  (Look at the little girl on the left side of the pic...this was quite a moment of drama!) When they called out 3rd and 2nd place and she had not won, I thought she probably wouldn't.  Not because hers wasn't good...but the competition was pretty fierce in 5th grade.  But, I was wrong!  She on first!  Way to go!

The Buie's were representing today!

Next up Regional Science Fair...which is awesome because you just take the same project.  So, no extra work and you get out of school!
They both did great!  It's a pretty big deal.  Each child has an interview with the judging panel.  Nervewracking!  Would be for me anyway!
A little waiting at science fair.  He looks like he is so deep in thought!  He was actually watching kids play outside....wishing it was him I think!
Hudson won 1st place in Regional Science Fair as well!
Hudson'c class wrote a book called the ABC's of Arkansas.  Each kid wrote an 1 page story and drew a pic of something from Arkansas that started with a letter of the alphabet. Hudson was really proud of it and was so cute as he read us the book one evening!
In Lawson's class, each student had the opportunity to contribute to the class book but also author and illustrate you own book.  Lawson worked on her book with every spare minute she had for 2 weeks....not an exaggeration.  She wrote a book to tell the story of Winter the Dolphin from the Dolphin tale movie.  Her book turned out great!

Lawson got her hair trimmed about  3 inches and she left with it styled super straight.  Made her look so much older!

One Saturday afternoon, the Buie 4 tackled the more challenging side of climbing pinnacle mountain!  We made it!  It was a lot of fun (and a lot of work) but the view is always worth it!

Lawson had a school project to create a model of a cell.  She tackled this 100% by herself!  I may be out of a job soon!  (and I think I feel pretty good about that!)
She did a great job!
Judy and I were treated to lunch at Outback for Mother's Day.  I <3 alice="" chicken="" me="" nbsp="" p="" some="" springs="" yummy="">

There is really nothing better than a homemade card!

I felt like I was short on picture of me and my kiddos so we took a few when we got home!  I think I have enough now!

We might have gotten a tad silly at the end!

(All cool tweens sport the duck face in pics. #tryintostaycool)

(This one is an out take.  We were photo bombed by Lawson flying by on the scooter)

Lori graduated from nursing school this month!  This was a big day for her.  She has worked very hard the past 3 years!  Way to go girl!
This kid had completely outgrown (knees to the handle bars) his old bike.  So, we bike shopped on Memorial Day and he rode this sweet bike out of the store!  Doesn't get much better!
He wanted green with handbrakes and gears!
Then off to the pool for the first swim of the season!
Something came over my kids and they had a blast playing together for hours!  Must have been the cold water impairing their judgement....they didn't find anything to fight about!

This girl has been working really hard at cheer classes!  Look what she learned!
That smile says it all!

It dawned on my the other day that this could be my last year to ever drop my kiddos off at the same school. They are 3 years apart in school.  I have dropped them off together for the last 3 years...through the good and bad.  Some mornings they are helping each carry school projects in and some mornings they are bickering all the way up the sidewalk (while I drive away praying that it doesn't escalate once they get inside!).
The kids spent the weekend with Nonie and Poppa.  They packed their bags and had them ready to go.  I walked by and saw this.  I had to take a pic.  So picturesque.  Hudson's "b", bear and his tennis shoes.  He's set!

I got to spend a Saturday afternoon with this special lady!  Don't get to see her very often so have to make it count.  We had a nice visit.  Life certainly is not easy for her right now...but she is a trooper.
Saw this picture on her refrigerator. Sweet memory! Everyone is so happy!
Nonie and Poppa took them fishing one Saturday.

Last week of school lunch dates with the kiddos.
Rob and I went to eat with the kids several times each month.  Love that we were able to do this!
Lawson's first try at being a flyer on her cheer team! (She has always been a base.)  This is something completely outside of her comfort zone...she is doing great!
Second swim of the season.  Water and temps warming up! Summer here we come!

The last week of school Hudson had a baseball game EVERY night!  Mostly make up games from all the ones rained out during the season. It was beautiful weather up until the very last night....that one was HOT....even though it was at 7:30.  That is why I LOVE spring baseball!  I always HATE it when it ends....I LOVE watching Hudson play!  So, the hot night made it a little easier on me to let go of the season!

This team he was on this year suffered more losses than any other team he has played on.  It was a tough year.  The kids are older and understand that they are playing to win.  They feel their mistakes and the way it effects the game.  Valuable lessons were learned.

Alright Summer, we are ready for you!
