Memorial Day Weekend

We went to Texarkana to spend the holiday weekend with Mimi and DooDad.
We had such a great time...just hanging out with family!
On Saturday, we went to Ashley and Landry's.
The kids had a blast! They had like their own amusement park in Ashley and Landry's back yard. They had pools, sprinklers, a bounce house, a playground, a playhouse, basketball goal and ride-on toys! And fun cousins to play with! What more could you want!

We had a picnic lunch on the back porch.
And POPSICLES!
Oh...and a waterslide courtesy of Rob!
Then on Sunday after church, we went back over to Ashley and Landry's for lunch.
Aunt Steph, Eddie and Brooklyn stopped in to join us. (They were traveling back from Little Rock to Rockwall.)

Then Mimi pulled out her pool and bounce house for the kids.
They were in heaven!

Not exactly sure what was going on here...but it was sweet so I captured it.
I think they might have been waiting for a bee to fly away from the pool.
Such good times!
Doo Dad busted out his famous back yard burgers to complete the weekend.
No one throws down a better burger than Doo Dad!

A Little about La

So I want to do a quick post about each of my kiddos and just document what they are up to these days. (you can click on these papers and they will get larger...makes them easier to read)
Everyday Lawson brings home several pages of writing from school. Her teacher has them spend time "journaling" everyday. They can write whatever they want....she just has them spend time writing everyday. I think it is SO sweet that she "journals" about family members. She is really taken with her triplet cousins and their sister Reese (and her Aunt Ashley and Uncle Landry). For several months in a row, she brought home papers with their names written on them over and over and over. She just spells their names the best she can.

She was copying some questions from a game on this one. I was REALLY impressed with her penmanship!

This is Lawson's favorite picture to draw. I probably have 50 of them! Just like this! Seriously!
Anytime she is give the opportunity to draw, this is what she draws! Isn't it so cute though?!
No reason to change if you've got something that works!
On Mother's Day was the first time I had seen this picture. I was really shocked to see her do something different. It is a playground. Dont' know what inspired her to draw something different, but I have seen this one several times since Mother's Day. Kinda nice to have a fall-back!
She loves to spend time on the computer. And is completely independent on the computer. She knows how to "google" whatever she wants to find. She will even find things for Hudson to do on the computer.
One day I heard her say, Hudson lets make a paper about things you like. They worked on this together. This is what they came up with. Again she spelled everything on her own! Hilarious.
It says that Hudson "likes" (not licks) basketball, baseball and Lightning McQueen. She wrote that she likes "Dora, blue and balls."
She is big-time into wearing my shoes. She comes home from school and goes STRAIGHT to my closet for the shoes she will be wearing the rest of the day. She is proud to wear them, too. If we go run an errand after school, she will march right into Target dressed like this!
This girl LOVES to make cupcakes.
We usually make them once a week.
She can pretty much do the entire process by herself now.
She also loves to read. And can read most of the books in our house with little help!
Hudson's post coming next.....stay tuned!

Swim Date with Aunt Steph and Brooklyn

We planned a swim date with Steph and Brooklyn.
The kids had SO much fun!
Just swam and swam.
Lawson was smitten with Brooklyn and pretty much followed her around and carried her around the entire time.
We had some pizza delivered and enjoyed a pool side picnic.
What a great way to spend Friday afternoon and evening! We will have to do this again sometime!

Donuts with Dad

Rob went to Donuts with Dad at La's school this morning.
They had a really good time!
Robbie said she was just SO cute interacting with all her little friends.
He really enjoyed being there.
And judging from this pic, so did she!

La's Running Club Awards Ceremony

Lawson participated in Eagle Ridge Elementary School's Running Club this year.
They met for about 45 mins after school each Wednesday (weather permitting) during the fall and spring. This was a great outlet for having fun with her friends and getting some good exercise.
Each week they gave the kids a new "token" to add to their running club neclace. Lawson was always SO excited to see what the token was going to be each week....a Christmas tree, pumpkin, shamrock, umbrella, etc.
They counted the number of laps the kids ran each week.
Today was the awards ceremony.
They were presented with a certificate showing the total number of miles they ran and a running shoe neclace! Of course!
Lawson ran 14 miles this year!
That's a lot of steps for little legs!
Way to go La!

First Swim of the Year

The kids have been asking since about last September (when our neighborhood pool closed), "when can we go to the pool?"
The answer is "TODAY!"
I kind of suprised them with it after school. They couldn't believe it! I just kinda decided last minute as I was picking Lawson up from school. It has finally gotten too hot to enjoy playing outside after school and our pool opened this month....so it was time!
The water was pretty cold
but, of course, that didn't bother them too much.
They got right in.

They are looking forward to spending their summer at the pool!
As is their mom!

My 3 Day Weekend

So, I had a nice long 3 day weekend!
I worked an extra day last week to cover for a co-worker so I had friday off! It was SO nice!
I slept in til 6 (yes, I'm usually up earlier than that!), got to watch GMA (I'm usually at work long before it comes on and I just love to start my day with some GMA...although I don't really feel the love for George Stephonopolous....so that's dissapointing), got to do a little shopping with Mother's Day $ and then Hud and I picked up McDonalds and ate with Lawson at her school.
Saturday we went bowling with some friends from our small group (or "bear group" as Hudson calls it) from church. The kids were super excited to get to bowl.

Then today the kids entertained themselves for about 2 hours playing grocery store while I cleaned house. I have said it before...and will probably say it again....but I love to watch my kids role play. They sold and returned (yes, they know the return drill....says something about me and my indecisiveness doesn't it?) this same food over and over!
Its been a fun and relaxing weekend!
Just what I needed!

Amazing Students....

...was the title of the following email I got from Lawson's teacher this past week.
We are SO proud! Way to go little (although not SO little) La!
She is pretending to be her teacher, Ms. Blair, in this photo. This is her favorite past time.
"This is Ms. Blair and I just wanted to send you a quick e-mail to let you know how amazing this year has been. During our staff meeting on Friday we were given the task to e-mail 5 parents whose students always do what is expected in the classroom. I have an amazing class this year and it was hard for me to narrow it down to five students. I have chosen your children because they are always doing what is expected of them in the classroom and they have worked very hard this school year. I wanted you to know how fortunate I feel to have your children in my classroom and that everday they always perform beyond what is expected. I know they will do wonderful next year and it will be hard to let them go. Thank you for all your help and support this year. Your children have succeeded this year because of your support and their hard work in the classroom. " Thank you, Candi Blair

Hudson's Room Update

So....
my sweet mom volunteered to make
a "bedboard" (Hudson's word for headboard) for Hudson's bed! She did such a GREAT job! We had kind of stalled out on finishing up his room.
We picked it up from her last weekend and it was just the spark we needed to get us rearraging his existing wall art and completing his new big boy room! I am SO pleased!
The ONLY things I purchased were 2 pillows (the red and green) and the 2 lamps! I spent only $46! If you remember, Robbie's niece was so generous and gave us this bed last fall. Then I had this bedding from back in the day when we had an official guest room (if you know me....its amazing that I had not sold or donated this bedding by now!) The rest of the stuff (wall art, curtains, etc.) is from his nursery.

(Note: The colors don't photograph completely accurately. Everything matches in real life!)
