This Boy...

...is something else.
Everyday Hudson either makes me laugh or melts my heart in a new way!
Here are some recent examples:
A conversation at storytime the other night.
We were reading about the parting of the Red Sea.
We were talking about how God always makes a way for his children.
Lawson: God made a way for us by sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins.
Mom: That's right Lawson.
Lawson: Why did the people want to be mean and kill Jesus?
Mom: Ya know...I don't think they were trying to be mean...but they didn't understand who Jesus was....and they ended up making a bad choice.
Hudson (piping in from out of nowhere): That wasn't very courteous mom.

Courteous? What 3 yr old uses the word "courteous"?!

These are Hud's "Saving" Ropes.
He carries them around in his little harmonica case.
He says that he sees people that need saving...usually behind a chair or couch in our house...and he will get a rope out of his case, twirl it around in the air like a lasso, and then uses it to pull the person out and rescue them. I love it when he plays this game. I love that God has created in his little heart the desire to see people in need and "save" them....whether they are pretend or not. I pray that he will always be able to see the needs of those around him and respond.
Now THIS rope is not a "saving" rope.
THIS rope is his "band cord".
Hud pays close enough attention to the bands he has seen play to notice that they have "ropes" (mic cords) on the stage floor around them.
So when he gets ready to perform, he will go get this rope and put it on the floor around him!
Cracks me up!
No words to explain what is going on here! Hud will hear Rob playing his guitar in the office and will want to join in.
He is playing Rob's electric guitar in this one.
Such sweet moments.
A visit to Daddy's barber shop!

Daddy and Hud singing together. Hud is a little "pitchy"!

But he is doing his best to make a joyful sound like his Dad does.

David Chicken Show...Oh my!

Who is David Chicken you say???
He is a Dallas native and is "part SuperHero, part Elvis and 100% fun for all ages." (according to his website). I might disagree at least a few percentage points on that last statement!
We were introduced to him and his rappin' Grandma (who is part of the show) last fall at a local festival. The kids bought his DVD and have been huge David Chicken fans since!
This was a free event he did for the boy scouts, and David was kind enough to let us join in!
Thanks David Chicken!
Here he is serenading his Chiuaua, Super Chachie!
This will give you an idea of the type of show we are talking about...but these kids are eating it up! Lawson doesn't stand out in this pic does she? (The only girl in a sea of scouts.)
La got to go on stage and help lead a song!
Hudson was a bit star-struck! He was quiet (which is far from the norm) and just taking it all in!

La's Class Valentines Party

I got to go to La's Kindergarten class
Valentine's Day Party today!
We had so much fun, and she was just so cute with her friends! We both kinda have fat little faces in this pic,
but it is sweet nonetheless!
Enjoying sugary goodies galore!
Lawson & Abby
This little dude looks like trouble!
(This is how I envision Hudson in a few years!)
Passing out Valentines
Hawi, Lawson, & Darian
Checking out her goodies!
Making a tough decision!
"Which sticker should I get?"
This was the first year where Lawson has been able to pass out all her valentines without needing help reading the names on them. In fact, she was the "go-to" person for several of her friends who needed a little help with reading a few names. She just keeps growing up!

Valentine's Weekend

This has been a great weekend!
My sweet mom came to watch the kiddos for us while Rob and I went to a Marriage Conference at our church this weekend. We had a GREAT time eating some crazy good food, visiting with new friends and laughing while learning some cool things to help us grow stronger in our marriage.
Rob's parents sent us the adorable Cookie Bouquet!
I just love (to look at and eat) these things!
So festive!
Thanks Judy & Turner!
Saturday afternoon Rob and I went and saw the movie The Blindside.
We had heard that is was SO good...and it was!
I love movies like this....where the mistreated underdog finds love, happiness and success.
Needless to say, I did not have much eye makeup on when we walked out. Cried it all off!
So touching...especially because it was based on a true story.
(Oh....this is me at the Movie Theatre with Gigantic Chipmunks. Makes perfect sense, right!)
While we were at the Theatre, mom took the kids to McDonalds, Petsmart, let them make cupcakes and them gave manis and pedis.
They think she is an awesome baby sitter! And we do too!

Then on Sunday afternoon we took the kids to Target and let them use some gift cards they had to pick out a new toy. We were there for about an hour. It's hard to make a decision when there are rows and rows of toys!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

We have gotten like 8 inches of snow today!
I think it is the most I have ever seen here in Texas!
And it was the most perfect snow for building snowmen.
So, we built 2!
Every winter hould have a good snow like this!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Rob and La went to their 4th Daddy Daughter Dance tonight.
This is one of the highlights of La's year!
She talks about "how much longer to the Daddy Daughter Dance" all year!
To her Dad's dismay,
it isn't because of how much she loves to dance with her Dad,
but rather how much she loves dressing fancy and acting crazy with her girlfriends!
I, however, thoroughly enjoy "dolling" her up!
I shamelessly admit it is one of the highlights
of my year as well!
We get her started with a fabulous bubble bath!
Even though I fix her hair everyday, I always get a bit nervous about fixing her hair for the big night! I guess it is because I try to do something different and its a gamble how it is going to turn out and if La will approve!
Found the perfect pink shiny shoes to go with the dress!
We got lucky!
The finished product!
Daddy and Little La

La with some of her best girlfriends, Celia and Adia.
Enjoying some refreshments!
Dance, Dance, Dance!

Friday Night Out

Being the good parents we are (ha!),
we want to teach our children about
the important things in life.
So, we took the kids to a Fossil Ridge High
basketball game tonight.
Just another element in our the Buie Sports Appreciation training program!
We had a good time!
There was just so much for the kids to take in.
I'm not sure what their favorite part was though.
It was a close tie between the actual game, getting to pass their bedtime and eating ringpops!
You could tell Hudson was paying attention
to EVERY last detail.
During the teams warm up he asked me, "When are they going to have just one ball on the court? I like it better like that."
And then, He asked "Why do those boys on the bench still have a jacket on?" He had noticed that the ones that were not playing had not taken off their warm up jackets.
