Hudson's First Baseball Game - The Braves - Bryant, AR

We are playing Bryant Baseball and tonight was the first game of the pre-season tournament!  Big Fun!  This is Hudson's first year to play baseball where the score is kept, you can get out and a pitching machine is used! The ball is pitched 38 miles per hour. Hudson is very excited!
He is playing second base.
And he chose to be number 20.  Don't know why...I guess it just had a good ring to it!
He did great!  He hit the ball both times he was up to bat.  And his last hit drove in the winning run!  They won 2-1.
The coach gave him the game ball!  He was SO excited! See that twinkle in his eye!

Now...what you won't see here...is how when we got home Hudson dropped his game ball on the sidewalk and rolled into a drainage culvert at the end of our parking lot.  Hudson just had this miserable look on his face.  But, he held it together somehow.  I took the kids inside to get ready for bed and Rob went to get a flashlight to try and see if he could possible retrieve the ball.  About 10 minutes later, Rob came inside to inform me that he had taken off a man hole cover and spotted the ball about 8 feet down.  He was going to go get his ladder out of our stage building and go down and get it.  I was was like NO!  It was pitch black down there and I just knew he was going to get stuck in that hole and I was going to have to be the one to call and greet the 911 rescue team.  I had no plans of making the 10 O'clock news!  Rob was like I'm getting that ball.  Luckily, he called his dad and they came up with another plan.  He duct taped two brooms together end to end and then taped one of my pots to the end.  He used this ghetto tool to scoop up the ball and bring it up from the city drain.  It worked!  By this point, Hudson was tucked into bed anxiously waiting to see if his dad would save the day!  And he did!  Hudson was so happy and went right to sleep!  That's a good dad.

This was his first hit of the night.

This was his second hit of the night.  He got out but he drove in the winning run!

This is a hit from his second game.

I think Spring Baseball is going to a lot of fun!  Hudson really likes it and it should be wonderful weather...all though this week's game were FREEZING!  I'm not sure how we are going to hold up to 7:30pm ball games on school nights!  Hoping for a great season! So blessed to have this sports lovin little boy in my family!
