Gibbs Family Annual Vacay

For the last few years, the ENTIRE (19 Gibbs family members + Lou and Margaret Nalley)  Gibbs family has gotten together for a little summer fun!  And this was the big weekend!  Oh! How we look forward to it!  The kids LOVE spending a few days with their cousins on the lake...swimming, tubing, playing games, making crafts and eating yummy treats! Pretty fabulous, right?

Cannon and her lovely back up singers!

Steph hands out all the assignments...who is responsible for bringing each meal, planning activities for the kids, etc.  This year we got the craft assignment.  Lawson was such a huge (as in she did most of the work) help to me in planning and prepping the craft projects for the kiddos.  We went with an ocean theme and it was a lot of fun!

The first night my mom had planned an engagement party for Valerie and Brady who are newly engaged!  We each gave them a toast, played some games that tested them on how much they know about each other, and then had a big family dance party!

The next day was spent completely on the lake!

I think Aunt Steph did ALL the girls hair everyday.  That is 5 heads of hair...complete with braids, pink hair chalk, and sometimes curling iron curls!  I think it is a lot of work to just fix my own hair!

The kids spent just about every minute of this day in the water...they hopped out for a quick picnic on the dock!

On this trip last year, we found out Steph was having a baby boy! And this year we had him to cuddle!  Sweet little Gibbie!

After lots of fun in the sun, we cleaned up for dinner, crafts and games!

The game Balderdash is a family tradition.  It must be played at least once on Gibbs family vacay.  My favorite made up definition came from Landry....a coordinated lack of effort.  Who thinks of that?!
Mom brought the kids some fun matching summer shirts for them to wear in our traditional kid group shot! With the kids being a little older, it was much easier to get the group shot.  Plus they were promised a treat if they cooperated!

That afternoon we were back out on the lake.  We headed to the cold water at the damn.  We went there last year and several in the group jumped in the freezing water.  The kids wanted to go back and do it again! Crazy kids!

Laughing at this pic!  Looks like Lange has some super levitating powers! Landry threw all of the kids high off the dock for about 20 mins straight!  Those kids aren't as small as they used to be either!
The kids did ocean themed crafts and created an ocean scene.  They were pretty proud of their work!

The boys built this "fire" and were roasting leaves on over it.  So cute!

The Gibbs Crew minus Rob (he had to go back for church) plus Margaret Nalley (Lou had already left).

Thanks everyone for all you did to make this weekend a wonderful memory!  It is a total team effort to feed a crew of 21 people 8 meals, clean up the kitchen afterwards, coordinate 2 boats and run herd on 9 kiddos in a two story house...but we did it!  And it was a BLAST!
