Lawson's Class Field Trip

Lawson's class on a field trip today to Lake Degray.  I knew they weren't swimming...so I didn't really know what to expect.  I was pleasantly surprised!  The park rangers came out and did some really fun yet educational things with the kids. They played games with them to teach them about what types of animals herd their prey...and then had them play games that demonstrated the benefit of hunting in a pack versus hunting alone.  It really drove home the point...and was really fun for the kids!
Then they taught about reptiles.  They brought 3 snakes and a small alligator that the kids got to touch!

Lunch time!
Then they taught about insects.  Which concluded with the opportunity to eat an insect!  They had packaged mill worm larvae that were cheddar cheese flavored!  If you ate it, you got a really cool "I ate a bug button" !

I wasn't sure Lawson would do it...
...but she did!  Go girl!
Then they taught the kids about the bald eagle.  Ms. Hill became a bald eagle as part of the lesson.  The kids loved it!
