Lawson's 4th Grade class took a trip to the state capitol (Little Rock). They got to have their picture made with Governor Bebe.
I had been wanting to see the inside of the capitol building...so I was thrilled to chaperon on the trip! I actually learned so much!
The capitol was decorated for Christmas and the red was just beautiful against all the white marble walls!Senator Hutchinson came and talked to the kids. He explained to them some of the laws the senate has recently passed that effects children their age. For instance, adults can no longer smoke in cars if minors are present. Lawson got to sit in his chair for a pic!
Lawson and Mrs. Davis. I am so thankful that Lawson has another great teacher this year. She is so sweet and really cares about the kids. Lawson LOVES being her helper!
This was the room the Arkansas Supreme Court used to meet in. But, they needed a larger room. The lady told the kids lots of things about the Capitol building...when it was built, how long it took, etc. I should have written this post the same day we visited....because I can't remember all the fun facts she shared with us now!
We ran into Lt. Gov Mark Darr. He is an old friend from Ouachita...sang at mine and Robbie's wedding! Really weird that he is Lt. Gov!
These are solid bronze doors. There are three 3 sets on these doors on the front of the building. They are gorgeous! They polish them like 3 times every week! They are 10 feet tall and four inches thick. They were purchased from Tiffany's in New York for $10,000 when the capitol was constructed. They are worth millions today!
